Canyoning
ADVENTURE
ON THE
RIVER CETINA

25 kilometres from Split and Makarska there is the picturesque
town Omią of the pirates' origin. It is situated at the source of
the river Cetina and under the slopes of the mountains Mosor and
Dinara. As such, it offers many different activities in the nature
starting from walking, cycling, canyoning, free climbing, paragliding,
diving, sailing and rafting.

| The visitors are welcomed within the hydroelectric
power station Kraljevac (23 kilometres up to the road from Omią, along
the left coast of the river Cetina) from where they proceed by bus
provided by the organiser which will get them to the starting point
. The trip finishes by the power station Kraljevac after 4 – 6 hours
( it depends on the number of people) of drifting through the canyon
of Cetina within the waterfall Gubavica which had been 60 meters tall
before the barrier was erected . As such , the waterfall was second
in Europe due to its height . Today , the waterfall is divided in
two small ones of 15 and 35 meters of height whereas its previous
configuration could be seen during the withdrawal of the water level.
The tourists interested in adventure canyoning will
try to get down along the cliff with the help of a rope (absail 35-50
m) while the others could take the detour in order to get to the bottom
of the waterfall where they will have brake for light and nutritious
lunch . At the final ending everybody will be allowed to get down
along the 12 meters high cliff or to jump into the water from this
or from the less height. |

During the high seasons the air temperature amounts up to 30 °C
whereas the water temperature reaches 20 °C being thus fit for swimming,
hydro massages and etc.
The staying at this impressive site makes one to come once more
and enjoy the memories that will be preserved by the end of one's
life.
If you joined the adventure you could admire wealthy flora and
fauna and explore the phenomena of the Dalmatian karst as well as
to give a personal contribution towards the river and nature preservation.
Shorts and T-shirts, trekking boots or strong sports' shoes is
everything you need during your stay at the river. The rest of the
equipment is provided by the organiser. Take the towel, dry clothes
and the shoes you will put on after the trip. It is useful to be protected
from the sun while at the river. If you want to take pictures, it
is recommendable a waterproof camera. It is advisable not to take
the valuable objects (jewellery, watches ) and if you wear glasses
tight them by the thin rope.
A stay in the wilderness include the injury
risks: in order to avoid them it is of extreme importance to pay
attention to the guide (skipper)!
No drugs and alcohol use - enjoy the nature!

The price includes the transport from Kraljevac , river toll, equipment
rent, a guide hire,(members of the free climbing centre “Marulianus”)
and light meal.
